EPDM: The polymer EPDM, ethylene-propylene rubber, is produced through co-polymerization of ethylene, propylene and diene monomer, producing a polymer made up of saturated linear macromolecules with a paraffinic structure. EPDM has a much higher UV and weather resistance than other rubber membranes and, installed to manufacturer’s specifications, will last for many years longer.
In addition to the base polymer, EPDM contains reinforcing carbon black fillers, process chemicals, antioxidants and vulcanizing agents. After mixing the ingredients into a homogenous plastic compound, two layers of the rubber are rolled out in a calendar to form a double sheet. Vulcanization is then carried out. The long rubber molecules in the material are cross-linked through heat and pressure, creating an elastic membrane.
The latest manufacturing technology and experienced staff at Trelleborg ensures you will always receive a premium product that is defect free, aesthetically pleasing and exceeds the New Zealand E2-AS1 (ASTM D-6134) specific requirements.
The large sheets allow quick installation, greatly reducing the costs for laps and labour time.
