Poly Flex

Poly Rubber Products, India
Poly Rubber Products have developed this special EPDM roof sheeting compound marketed under the brand name of POLY FLEX.
Under technical collaboration with M/S. A. TAMBURINI & CO. – ITALY they have developed a superior lap and substrate adhesive (Cover 3174) which creates a water tight and resistant bond between the membrane and substrate or membrane lap.  This method is guaranteed to seal laps while constantly submerged under water.

The membrane and lap system conforms to the minimum requirements for non-reinforced EPDM rubber sheets for use in roofing applications, as specified by the RMA ROOFING COUNCIL of USA.

This single ply membrane is lightweight and has exceptional long-lasting elasticity permitting the material to withstand the following:

  • An acceptable level of building movement
  • Expansion and contraction of building surfaces
  • High resistance to ozone and UV rays and therefore referred to as “Crackless Rubber”
  • Low specific gravity – Lightest amongst all rubbers
  • Wide temperature range of –50 DegC to +150 DegC
  • Excellent steam, water, acid and alkali resistance

POLY FLEX sheet membrane is manufactured from EPDM (Ethylene, Propylene, Diene Terpolymer) rubber.  Raw materials are fully mixed in a banbury which are then processed into sheet form using the “Calendar” method.  This method involves forming the hot soft raw EPDM mix through a series of rollers into a sheet form.  From there this sheet is trimmed, wrapped onto a large roll with a wrap cloth and then baked in a high temperature oven.  Once the material has been cooled, it no longer can be formed into another shape.  This means that whenever the material is stretched, it will always endeavor to return to its original form.

EPDM has extremely high weathering capabilities and is UV resistant.  The material also has a very low carbon content, meaning it will not leach the carbon through the surface.  This often happens with high carbon, butyl content membranes.
